Replace Your
Damaged Or
Missing Teeth

Dental Facts:

[gum disease]
Gum disease is one of the main causes of tooth loss in adults and has also been linked to heart disease and strokes. If diagnosed in the early stage, gingivitis can be treated and reversed meaning you may never lose any teeth and thus you may never need dental implants.

[dental bridges]
According to some historians, the first use of dental appliances or bridges comes from the Etruscans, whose masterful gold workers made gold dental bridges for women so they could show off their wealth!

Dental Implants
a cost effective alternative to dentures!

So, just what is a dental implant and how does it work? Well, as we get asked this question on a regular basis, we thought we'd explain it for you!

Essentially a dental implant is a titanium screw shaped like the root of the tooth. It is inserted in the jaw where a tooth has been lost in place of the missing root.

Once Osseointegration (the healing when the bone grows on to the titanium surface) has occurred, a new tooth or teeth can be secured on the implant. The new tooth can, and generally does by way of careful colour matching, look, feel and function just like a natural tooth.

Multiple implants can be used to support a bridge or a denture.

Dental Implants are a great alternative to bridgework for permanently replacing missing teeth and eliminate the need to drill into healthy teeth. Implants are also a lot more comfortable than dentures as there is no movement; they feel almost like natural teeth which in turn can help eliminate some of the worries of dentures and improve self confidence.

To find out if dental implants would be the right option for you, please contact the surgery and book an appointment with one of our dentists today, they'll be happy to discuss the benefits of having dental implants fitted and will be able to give you an accurate costing for any work you wish to have done.
